An ADHD planner app for two: body doubling on a board
Updated · by the Simpleban team
In short
Most planners fail ADHD brains by showing everything at once and making all of it feel urgent. Simpleban's ADHD weekly planner is a kanban board with a single rule — only the Today column is allowed to feel urgent — and it's built for two people, so a partner, parent or body-double can see what's on the board and what's stuck without asking. Repeating cards come back by themselves (so forgetting to re-add laundry isn't a failure), due dates are calm, and the morning email is a short list, not an alarm. Free, with every feature.

The rules of the board
- Four columns: Today · This week · Someday · Done. Rename them, but keep the shape.
- Today holds at most three cards. If it has eight, that's the problem, not you.
- Everything you think of goes in Someday first. Deciding later is allowed.
- Use the Today filter and nothing else exists.
- Repeating cards for the maintenance stuff — meds, bins, water the plant — so you never have to remember to remember.
Why the second person matters
Body doubling works because someone is there. On the board, the other person can see what's in Today, hand you the one thing that matters, and leave the rest alone. A partner who can look doesn't have to ask, which is the whole difference between support and nagging.
- Every card has an owner: you, your partner, or either of you — so “who is on this?” is answered before anyone asks.
- Hand a card to your partner and it moves to the top of their board under “waiting on you”. If they're not on the app, Simpleban emails them a few minutes later, and the next morning's 8am email mentions it once if it's still waiting — never every day. You never press a “remind” button.
- When your partner is done, they hand it back and it reappears at the top of your board.
- Repeating cards come back on their own schedule — daily, weekly, chosen weekdays, every N days, monthly — and can alternate between the two of you.
- Due dates with a calm Today / This week filter, a private calendar feed for Google, Apple or Outlook, and a countdown on the board for the date that matters.
- Notes, checklists and comments live inside each card, so the context travels with the task.
- Your partner joins from your invite link with a name and an email — no password, nothing to pay. Both of you have the full app on your own phone; it installs like an app and works offline for reading.
Honest limits
No timers, no gamification, no medication tracking beyond a repeating card. It's a board that stays out of the way, and it's for exactly two people.
Templates to start from
Questions, answered
- Is Simpleban designed for ADHD?
- It's a general kanban board, but its shape suits ADHD well: few columns, a Today filter that hides everything else, repeating cards, calm due dates with no red alarms, and a partner view. The ADHD weekly planner template sets it up that way.
- Can I use it alone?
- Yes. The two-person part is optional; many people use the Today column solo and invite a partner later.
- Does it send lots of notifications?
- No. One email at 8am on days something is waiting on you, and nothing on other days. There are no push notifications.
- Does the other person need to pay or install anything?
- No. They open your invite link, type a name and an email, and they're on the board. Installing it as an app on their phone is optional. Simpleban is free forever for two: you and the one person you invite get every feature, unlimited boards and cards, no trial and no credit card. The promise is written into the Terms: nothing that is free today will ever move behind a paywall, and your +1 never pays. If you need more people or want to share boards beyond your +1, we'll soon introduce subscription tiers — a flat rate, never per seat.
