About Simpleban

In short

Simpleban is a free, real-time kanban board built for exactly two people — a freelancer and their client, a couple, or a cofounder pair. It is made and run by one independent developer, launched in June 2026, and lives at simpleban.app. Every feature is free for two people, and that is a written promise rather than a trial: nothing free today will ever move behind a paywall.

Simpleban, a kanban board for two people: a shared “Our home” board with This week, Doing, Waiting and Done columns, cards marked Mine or assigned to a partner, due dates, repeating chores and a moving-day countdown.

Why it exists

Every project tool is designed for a team of ten and priced per seat. Most of the work in life is shared between two people: you and your client, you and your partner, you and your cofounder. Those pairs were using Trello with 90% of it switched off, Notion with one database, or a group chat with a pinned message. Simpleban is the board that pair actually needed: columns, cards, and a clear answer to “who is on this?”.

What makes it different

  • Two-person assignment: every card has an owner: you, your partner, or either of you.
  • Handoffs instead of reminders: hand a card over and it shows as “waiting on you” on the other board — and in their inbox if they're away. Nobody presses a “remind” button on the other person.
  • Repeating cards that can alternate between the two people.
  • Calm due dates, a calendar feed, countdowns, checklists, read-only share links.
  • Installs like an app, works offline for reading, opens in under a second.
  • 40 free templates that become a real board at signup.

The promise

Simpleban is free forever for two: you and the one person you invite get every feature, unlimited boards and cards, no trial and no credit card. The promise is written into the Terms: nothing that is free today will ever move behind a paywall, and your +1 never pays. If you need more people or want to share boards beyond your +1, we'll soon introduce subscription tiers — a flat rate, never per seat.

No ads. No selling data. You can export everything as JSON and delete your account yourself, any time, from the menu.

Who makes it

Simpleban is built and run by one person, with no outside funding. It is written in Next.js and runs on Vercel with a Supabase (Postgres) database; email is sent through Resend. Bugs and ideas are read by the person who fixes them — write to info@simpleban.app or use the feedback page.
